I have been a fairpoint customer for 4 yrs and had enough. I was trying to save some money being with them but always had issues with internet. They gave me new modems over the yrs because of poor signal. That never really worked.I suggest to find a promotion with comcast, yes comcast is expensive but its not that bad and you will not have any headaches when you need the internet.I will never go back with fairpoint, they have no problem taking my monthly payment from my account, but its always a problem to have good signal and to have someone come out and thats a long and an annoying wait as they call you days later to stop by.STAY AWAY!!

Fairpoint should be called Frustration Point

We have had Fairpoint for 14 years due to where we live they are basically our only option. The service is terrible and an on going issue for our family.

Their employees are friendly and helpful but the service itself is constantly in and out, usually happens at peak times of the day when most people would be trying to use it. When you have high school age children trying to get reports etc done online this IS a BIG problem not to mention in this day and age when EVERYONE uses online payment, messsaging, business sites having no internet kinda shuts you down from being able to go about your daily life.

Still Haven't Installed Internet

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I'm renting a property in Winchester, NH for the summer and the owner is trying to get Fairpoint/ Consolidated Communications to come here and install internet. She started trying to schedule a technician visit in April.

It's now the end of June and after four attempts to schedule a technician they still haven't been here. Last summer I rented a room from someone in Whitingham, VT. The internet couldn't handle a PC and Xbox on the wi-fi at the same time, even when the Xbox was off. It would disconnect any time it rained and could barely send e-mails when it did work.

This has to be the most incompetent internet provider in New England and possibly the US. Avoid this company at all costs.

Slow and not worth the price!

I should have known from the day the installation guy showed up this was a bad idea..after showing up 1 hr outside of the expected “window”, no call, customer service said to just wait he should be there soon, once he arrives, in the middle of installation says he doesnt have enough cable and will be back... 3 hours later he shows up again. I had a gut feeling and i didnt follow it!!

Bottom line: its SLOW internet. 25 mbps barely was receiving 20 mbps, and was told im to far away from “hub”, best they can do.

Ridiculous, best deciaion was to pay the disconnect fee and move on.

I now have Metrocast, paying less $ for 150 mbps!

WHY IS FAIRPOINT ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO MISSTREAT CUSTOMERS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I’ve missed worked twice now because they tell me they will be here to set up internet and no call and no show. Call them and they have the attitude oh well. How is it possible a lawsuit has not been brought up against them for their extreme lack of respect and continually costing the consumers even more money wether from time missed at work waiting around or over charging people???

I've been paying for high speed for a year. Turns out they can't even deliver high speed to my line. I've called so many times and they put you through the run around making it seem like its your fault they can't deliver the speeds they claim. I get no more then 5 to 6 megs download on a good day. 1 to 2 megs for uploads. they claim they sent our a service person to check the outside line. because after numerous tests we determined it was outside - not inside..Two weeks go by not a word from them. When I call to tell them service still sucks - they want to run me through the same bull *** of tests. They sure as *** didn't have a problem taking my money. They are lying thieves. they know *** well they can't deliver the speeds they are charging me for.

I'm interested in how this was resolved. I'm facing the same situation.....

years of paying for "premium" internet that apparently I'm not able to get. Only discovered when I wanted to drop my land line. Fairpoint says I need to be within 12,000 ft of the "hub," and I'm 12,300 ft.

Bull!!! I'm only 1.7 miles away!

Fairpoint Customer Service - AWFUL

I upgraded internet service with Fairpoint on 2/17 and had been calling since then complaining about not even being able to log on. We finally decided in November to switch to Hughesnet. Fairpoint told us our bill cycle ended December 4. I was initially told we could keep our email accounts for a monthly amount. We had planned on moving all email to the new email account on Thursday.Friday, November 2-3. They shut off our account on Tuesday November 28 and deleted both email accounts. I called them and spent over 40 minutes on the phone asking if they could turn it back on for one day, that I would even pay for this service so we could get our address book and emails. I was told 'you cancelled, we deleted, it's our policy". They cancelled our account earlier than I was told and everything I was told about maintaining these accounts was not true. I even explained that we had severe flood damage at our home, that receipts and emails were needed and I was told that I could get copies of receipts. They said they didn't have a backup and they could charge me one month for internet but wasn't sure if the emails would be there. Another person said they wouldn't be there. I heard different things from everyone I talked to for several weeks. This is the worst customer service experience I have even had. I cannot believe an isp provider doesn't have a backup or couldn't turn on an account literally just closed one hour prior. Mary Stefanik

WORST SEVICE EVER. Have had them for two years and nothing but problems, they can't keep the internet up and running and Tech is some third party contracted group that doesn't know that they're doing. They have scheduled a technician to come out and address my modem connection issues three times on the phone only to have the field office perform a 'remote connection test' and close out my open ticket without resolving the problem and I have to call back (by the way they don't have the decency to tell you the ticket was closed out you have to find that out on your own by calling them back...three times in a row!). I hate Comcast but at least they are up and running and they come if you need them to. Don't waste your time or money or Effort with them.

I was going to switch to Fairpoint from Comcast internet only service, and organised a time for a technician to come out to my place to install service, but when I called Comcast to cancel service, they came to the table and finally lowered my bill to keep my business. This is where the journey turns ***..I called Fairpoint back to cancel the technician but was on hold for too long so I hung up and called back on another day. I again was on hold for a longer than I was going to wait, so hung up. I eventually got through and tried to cancel the installation, but I was told that since I did not make a payment the technician was never scheduled, so it's all good.! Three days later I came home to find a package at my door, its a Fairpoint Modem.... I didn't have time to deal with calling them so I waited till it was convenient for me ...which wasn't every really convenient since I thought this was a done deal... Anyway there was a message left on my cell today from Fairpoint which was an auto-generated message. The message said, Sorry for the inconvenience we were not able to make our scheduled appointment for installation of your service today and would like to reschedule for tomorrow. WOW, REALLY?? good thing I didn't take time off from work .... SO, I called Fairpoint customer service to finally get this all straightened out ...only to be met with attitude from the customer service person... When it was clear to me that this person had an issue dealing with a frustrated member of the public I asked to speak with her supervisor to which she replied I don't have a supervisor!! To which at this point exasperated and on company time I hung up... problem un-resolved.. I have a fairpoint modem in a box, that I do not want and better not get charged for!

i have been a Fairpoint customer since we kicked Time Warner to the curb several years ago. we pay just over 120 a month. this includes a supposed 3mbs internet line and a phone line. we NEVER get anywhere NEAR 3mbs a second. in fact our average across the board is 800kps when i complain i get the same run around >cycle the modem,> your modem sucks we will send a new better one,( which isnt a modem but a wifi router and SPECIFICALLY what i requested NOT to have) >next you get " let me run a line test" random time goes by on phone. then >" nope we are all good out our end it must be you.. would you like us to send out a tech?" ( who will wiggle wires find nothing wrong. say there is no problem and charge you 80 dollars for this privilege) and to top it off OFTEN like at LEAST one night a week but often 2 or more after roughly 10 pm im booted of the internet i cycle modem, internet comes right back and then a random amount of minutes later ( never more then 30 or so) im kicked off again. and this goes on all night and sometimes well into the day. as a person who does ALOT of business on the Net you can imagine how much fun this is and as a gamer you can imagine how much WORSE it is then that. the sick sad truth is NONE of the ISPs in the USA are giving us what we pay for. when i hear that places who on average dont have running water but have faster inet then i do ( interior Philippines and Malaysia for example) it gets me angry. we are the country that INVENTED the internet and we have the WORST providers in the world.. bottom line fairpoint will LIE Take your money not admit responsibility, EVER not fix anything stonewall you this is 10 times worse if they are the only game in town ( as a friend living elsewhere is dealing with)

Bad, Bad, Bad.

I've had voice and internet service all over this country and have never seen such despicable, dishonest customer service. FairPoint is absolutely out of their minds. They have been a long time with no competition and seem to be accustomed to lying, cheating, and disrespecting their customers. I've only been dealing with these jerks for about a year. I'm about done with this BS and will take my whole damned town with me when I close out my miserable account with them. The competition is coming, and when it fully arrives FairPoint is going to get kicked to the curb by its many, many dissatisfied and disrespected soon to be former customers. Some really sick, sick management and purposely misleading sales persons and intentionally confusing invoices. They can kiss my backside as I move over to Comcast. A company with good customer service.

I subscribed with fairpoint several years ago,I had noticed a decline in internet speed about 6 months ago( I was paying for 5 mgb and several speed tests showed I was getting .6 mgb), I called and asked about the service. They said the they would check it out, they came back and said that this was as good as the speed was going to get. OK, so I checked for more IS providers and settled on spectrum. I then called fairpoint and asked them to return the last payment to me, they told me that they would cut a check and send it to me. When I had not received the check in 4 weeks I called back, The person I talked to said about I had not called back to confirm my address. I said what address and that is my address send the check, ok send the check. Again, last month, basically the same thing. Today I called again and talked to two different ladies and got the same answer we have not talked to you since November of last year(Bull---t), we will send you a check in FOUR TO EIGHT WEEKS. So IF you are planning on doing business with fairpoint watch out!!!
